Sleep disorders

Some states in the US are using CBD to treat sleep apnea (insomnia). Studies have shown that cannabis improves the quality and duration of sleep and helps cure many sleep disorders.

A major cannabinoid found in cannabis, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), has been shown to reduce the time it takes people with insomnia to fall asleep, according to one study.

Anxiety and PTSD

According to the study in Clinical Psychology Review, as reported in Time magazine, medical marijuana may be helpful with depression, anxiety, and even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

There is some research that suggests that it may help treat people with drug addiction. But for people with bipolar disease and psychosis, smoking in any form can be harmful.

Two chemically pure drugs made from marijuana compounds — dronabinol and nubinol — have been approved for use in the US.

Multiple sclerosis

The UK’s MS Society has said that patients with multiple sclerosis should be allowed to use medical marijuana. As the Guardian reports, the MS Society has demanded that cannabis be legalized for patients whose treatment of pain and cramps cannot be satisfied with existing drugs.

Epilepsy

Studies indicate that the active ingredients of marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), work to block pain signals. CBD has protective and anti-inflammatory properties.

Although it is not clear from many studies whether or not marijuana controls seizures, this is expected from the parents of thousands of children who suffer from epilepsy.

Some studies indicate that medical marijuana may help ease menstrual pain. Numerous studies are being conducted around the world to explore the benefits of cannabis in many treatments. Medical marijuana (not hash) should only be taken on the explicit advice of your doctors.
